DIY Date Nights

For me, Valentine’s Day all about spending quality time with the one you love. I believe that this “holiday” is the perfect opportunity to experience new things together and further strengthen your bond.

My boyfriend, Ryan and I have been together for FOREVER 7 years. We have to make an effort to spice things up and keep things exciting and interesting. I love planning fun events for us to experience together and Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Here are some fun romantic ideas to stay at home and celebrate.

DIY Wine Tasting and Cheese Pairing

  • Buy a couple bottles of wine from your local grocery store, ranging from white-red and pick up a selection of cheese, crackers, fruit (grapes, apples) and meats, this idea is super easy and sophisticated. You could even quiz each other to see if you can identify the wine. Bonus: you don’t have to worry about the skimpy portions that you usually get when wine tasting.

Fondue for Two

  • Creating your own dessert fondue is super fun and a romantic way to cap your evening. Melt a semi-dark chocolate in your fondue machine and pair it with strawberries, bananas, apples, and bread (Angel Food Cake, Croissants). Add a little bubbly on the side and you’re all set to go.

DIY Paint Night

  • You don’t have to be an artist in order to explore your creative side. Creating your own paint project at home with your significant other is a great way to get a little messy and explore your creativity. It’s also an opportunity to learn something together. All you need is 2 canvases, paint, brushes and a bottle of wine. Nothing has to be perfect and create your own interpretation of what art is. You could pick out a scene or image that you want to mirror, but remember to have fun with it.

TV Show Marathon

  • Start a new show that you both have never seen before and make a promise that you will ONLY watch this show together. Watching and sharing a show together makes it special and creates exciting conversations about what might happen next. Some of Ryan and I’s favorite shows are Breaking Bad, Shameless, and House of Cards. Add in a dessert and some local brews and you’ll be set to go.

Hope that you and your loved ones have an amazing Valentine’s Day and create beautiful new memories!
