Matchy-Matchy

Who would’ve thought that matching sets would be appropriate for adults? Well thankfully for us this trend is hot hot hot for summer. Love this trend depending on the cut and the way you pull it off. I love that there are 2 piece outfits that are super casual and perfect for festivals or formal and dressy.

This two piece set that I got off of Shopbop is sold out, but I found some other options that show the whole spectrum of what you can do with a matching set.

Don’t mind the scraped elbows and knees- I’m a klutz and if anyone’s done Kayla’s BBG and have conquered commandos- you know why my elbows are raw.

Wedding Season

wedding-season.png

So one of my best friends is getting married THIS WEEKEND! T-Minus 3 DAYS! Can’t believe the big day is coming up so soon. I’m fortunate enough to be standing up in her wedding and don’t have to buy a dress to attend, but I’ve had several friends ask me what to wear to this event. I’ve been offering my humble advise and have been trying to help, because I understand the struggle with finding the perfect wedding attendee dress.

For me it’s all about finding something that’s appropriate for the wedding venue/theme along with something that’s versatile enough to wear to other occasions and doesn’t break the bank. I figured if my friends are asking, that there might be more of you out there that are on the same struggle bus so here are some of my top picks for this wedding season.

Short Dresses for a Semi-Formal Wedding

Trixxi Floral Print High Neck Skater Dress | Topshop Off the Shoulder Lace Dress | BCBG AMII STRAPLESS A-LINE DRESS | Akira  PRINT CUPCAKE DRESS | BCBG CAILYN BURNOUT FLORAL PRINT DRESS | Anthropologie Emma Dress | Chelsea28‘Peek-A-Boo’ Cold Shoulder Shift Dress

For the semi-formal wedding, I love a short hemline with bright colors and fun prints. Key to keeping it semi-formal is sticking with a silhouette that’s a little looser and more conservative. Love a good fit and flare for these events! PLUS most of the dresses I found for this are on MAJOR sale!

Long Dresses for a Semi-Formal Wedding

Adelyn Rae Strapless Print Chiffon Maxi Dress | Way-In Floral Print Popover Maxi Dress | Keepsake the Label ‘Mercy’ V-Neck Maxi Dress | June & Hudson Floral Print High/Low Wrap Dress |Ten Sixty Sherman Button Front Maxi Dress | AUGUSTE BOHEME GODDESS MAXI DRESS | BCBG CRESSIDA LACE-TRIM HIGH-LOW DRESS

Maxi’s are perfect for dressing up or down and are a great alternative for a semi-formal wedding. Love Maxi’s in floral prints or with a unique hemline.

Short Dresses for a Formal Wedding

Adrianna Papell Sequin Mesh Blouson Dress | J.O.A. Lattice Trim Fit & Flare Dress | LACE & BEADS ‘Texas’ Embellished Slipdress | J.O.A. Lace Sweetheart Off the Shoulder Dress | Revolve LACE FEATHER PEPLUM DRESS | Revolve OFF THE SHOULDER RUFFLE DRESS | Akira THE GARDEN OF DELIGHT DRESS | BCBG TEENA LACE INSERTS HALTER DRESS

Formal weddings call for some bling, bodycon, and some skin- but not necessarily all three. Remember it’s still a wedding and therefore a sacred event. Don’t want to upset the bride by coming in with a scandalous dress that has everyone talking (not in a good way). Keep it classy and fun!

Long Dresses for a Formal Wedding

Morgan & Co. Lace Bodice Gown | Ali & Jay Cutout Back Crepe Maxi Dress | MISSGUIDED Side Split Maxi Dress | Akira GRACIA I’M TAKING YOU WITH ME DRESS | Akira FLOWY MAXI DRESS| Nasty Gal Great Lengths Plunging Dress | Nasty Gal Lavish Alice Float On Flare Jumpsuit – Navy

With a maxi dress for a formal wedding, you can experiment with a lot of different styles and textures. Dress maxi’s up with a great pair of heels and statement jewelry. Great opportunity to try a chic jumpsuit!

All in all, just remember that you’re there to attend someone else’s wedding. The bride and groom have worked so hard to plan a special event and have chosen to share it with you. Help to make all their wedding dreams come true by dressing accordingly. Be respectful of the venue, time and theme that they’re trying to go for. And when in doubt with what to wear, reach out!

Hope this helped! Happy wedding season!

Keeping it Casual

Everyone needs a go to outfit for weekend errands and running around. This outfit has been on major repeat for me, not only is it crazy comfortable it’s a little more put together than traditional baggy sweats. I love the high slit top because it adds a little something-something. Keeping that in mind, these leggings are everything. The lattice side continues that feel of showing a little skin. Love simple outfits like this that are easy to throw on while still looking put together. Can’t wait to get back into this outfit this weekend!

P.S. don’t mind the period boobs. yikes.

Wednesday Wish List

Ugh this weather in Chicago is really putting a damper on my mood. The only thing getting me through is some massive online shopping for spring. When will it get here? Who knows. Here’s my round up of what I’m wishing for this week!

  1. Obsessed with these Topshop wedges. They come in 2 colors and I love the lace-up option. Such a huge trend for this spring/summer and these wedges should be on every girls list.
  2. Love this off the shoulder look, especially with the ruffled sleeves. This top would look great with shorts, jeans and white pants.
  3. Marc Jacobs bag- (insert heart eye emoji here) perfect for work, night out, traveling, etc.
  4. In love with this ‘Palm Island’ Bikini. The print is so fun and tropical and I love the white detailing. Can we please go somewhere tropical ASAP?
  5. Lush Tie Front Dress– the deets on this dress is incredible. Simple and classic. The tie up front adds something different. Also on sale 40% off!
  6. Socialite Lace Front Sheath Dress– clearly I have an obsession with the lace-up trend. Love the fact that this one has sleeves and tassels! 40% off makes this dress under $30.00!
  7. Open Cardigans are great to transition into spring. Easy to throw on and
  8. Misguided Stripe Short Sleeve Shift Dress– great basic for spring and summer. Could easily be dressed up or down. Plus, it’s on sale 40% off!
  9. I’ve been looking for a raincoat for FOREVER. I think I’ve found the one. This one from London Fog is adorable with the polka dot print. Also on sale 33% off!

In case y’all don’t know, I’m OBSESSED with TV shows. What I’ve been binge watching recently FYI is Louie on Netflix. If you haven’t watched it already, please do so. It’s hilarious in not a haha funny type of show but it’s so good. Thanks BF for getting me hooked.

Mixing Up Easter

Can’t believe it’s sleeting/raining/snowing in Chicago. Talk about dumpy weather. But I love this combination for Easter and spring in general. The mixed prints and textures makes for great transitional weather. Also I can’t get enough of my new jean jacket. It’s perfect for layering and adding a casual flair to any outfit.

Layering Up for Spring

It’s Friday and the SUN is out in the Midwest! It finally feels like spring is here and I couldn’t be more excited- who’s with me?!

With the weather being as unpredictable as it is, the best way to wear your favorite sundresses is to layer it up. My friends and I went down to the city the other weekend and this outfit was perfect for the warm day and rather chilly evening.

With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, it’s time for all us non-Irish to hop on the wagon and wear a little green. I love wearing green because it’s super versatile and can act as a basic or a pop of color and it’s flattering on every skin color.

Hope ya’ll are ready for some green beer and Jame-o!

Feeling Grey

Cheers to the freakin weeekend! Unfortunately we’re still experiencing a cold front in the Chicagoland area, so that means sticking to sweaters and boots for a little bit longer. I love pairing a a sweater with a pair of distressed jeans to lighten up the overall sweater weather look. Add some statement bling to dress up an otherwise basic outfit.

Here’s one of my favorite outfits that’s comfortable and perfect on the go.
